Castle Brigido
Lupoglav, Croatia, Croatia
Castle Brigido is a historic manor castle located near Lupoglav in the heart of Istria, Croatia.
It was built in 1643 by Pompeo Brigido, who moved his residence from the older medieval Mahrenfels Castle to a more comfortable location near the valley and transport routes. Unlike the earlier hilltop fortress, Castle Brigido was designed primarily as a noble residence rather than a military stronghold.
Over time, it became an important local estate associated with the history of the Lupoglav area and the noble families who governed the region. Today, the castle survives as a historic structure and a reminder of Istria’s aristocratic past.
