Castle Cantecroy in Mortsel, Belgium, dates back to the Middle Ages with its first mention in 1239. It was owned by several notable families including the powerful Berthout family and later Nicolas Perrenot de Granvelle, a key advisor to Emperor Charles V.

The castle was transformed into a princely residence and served as a meeting place for diplomats, scholars, and artists. It withstood iconoclast attacks and played roles in regional conflicts through history. In World War II, the castle was damaged by a V2 bomb but was restored in the mid-20th century.

Notable residents include the poet Alice Nahon and scientist Albert Einstein, who stayed there while fleeing Nazi Germany. Nowadays, the castle is used as a residence for senior citizens, maintaining its historical charm and significance.
