Castle de Merode is the ancestral home of the prominent Belgian noble House of Merode, whose history stretches back to the 14th century when they gained power in the Duchy of Brabant and the Principality of Liège.

The castle itself has roots going back to the late medieval period and was reconstructed or expanded during the 16th century, featuring three main structures including a residence, stables, and servant quarters with thick brown stone walls. The estate includes a large park with English and French-style gardens spanning over 70 hectares, showcasing a grand landscape around the historic buildings.

The Merode family played a significant role in regional and European history, holding titles such as Prince of Rubempré, Marquis of Westerlo, and Prince de Merode, and the castle remains a symbol of their aristocratic legacy.
