The Castle of Contignaco is a medieval fortress near Salsomaggiore Terme in the province of Parma, originally built in the early 11th century by Adalberto Pallavicino.

Perched on a hill, it played an important role in defending and controlling the nearby saltworks, which were a valuable economic resource in the Middle Ages. Its most distinctive feature is a well-preserved stone tower dating to around 1030, which still dominates the site today. Over the centuries, the castle passed through the hands of several noble families, including the Pallavicino, Aldighieri, Sforza-Pallavicino, Terzi, and Farnese.

Local tradition links the Aldighieri family to the lineage of Dante Alighieri, and some legends even suggest the poet may have stayed there during his exile. After extensive restoration, the castle remains one of the most picturesque historic landmarks in the Parma hills, admired for its medieval architecture, scenic setting, and rich noble heritage.
