Cathedral of Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia

---

The Cathedral of Zagreb, officially known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is the most important Catholic church in Croatia and one of the most recognizable landmarks in Zagreb.

Known for its twin Gothic spires, the cathedral has stood at the heart of the city for centuries and has been rebuilt and restored several times following wars, fires, and earthquakes. The cathedral features impressive Gothic architecture, richly decorated interiors, stained-glass windows, chapels, and the tombs of notable Croatian religious and historical figures.

Its elevated position and distinctive towers make it a prominent feature of Zagreb’s skyline. Today, the Cathedral of Zagreb serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zagreb and remains a major religious, cultural, and historic attraction. Visitors come to admire its architecture, explore its heritage, and experience one of the most significant monuments in Croatian history.
