Deneysville
South Africa , South Africa
Deneysville is a small town and village on the Free State side of the Vaal Dam, near the dam wall, about 80–100 km south of Johannesburg and roughly 150 km from Pretoria.
Established in the mid‑1930s during construction of the Vaal Dam and named after Deneys Reitz, it grew as a service centre for the dam and today is best known as a major inland water recreation hub, with several yacht clubs, the large “Round the Island” sailing regatta, popular boating and power‑boating, good fishing spots, and attractions such as a croc ranch and a historic motorbike museum, all set against a generally dry but temperate climate.
