Dunn's Castle
South Africa , South Africa
Dunn's Castle is a historic mansion located in the tranquil town of Piketberg in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
Built by George Herbert Dunn in the late 1890s, the castle features 14 rooms arranged in a U-shape and includes a notable Norman tower. It is believed that the renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker designed the castle, combining durability and elegance with imported materials like French roof tiles and English cement.
The castle has hosted notable guests such as Cecil John Rhodes and Rudyard Kipling. Over time, it became the residence of Cape Portland Cement's general manager and workers before transitioning to private ownership and guesthouse use.
