Eboli is a historic town in southern Italy’s Campania region, located in the Province of Salerno about 85 kilometers from Naples.

With a population of nearly 40,000 residents, it sits at an elevation of 145 meters above sea level and covers 138 square kilometers of the fertile Sele Plain. The town's origins date back to the ancient Lucanian period (1800–2500 B.C.), with its history shaped by Roman, Byzantine, and Norman influences.

Eboli is an important agricultural center renowned for its olive oil and dairy products, particularly the famous buffalo mozzarella produced alongside neighboring Battipaglia. Key historical landmarks include the Colonna family castle and the 12th-century Romanesque Basilica of San Pietro alli Marmi.

The town is famously associated with the saying “Christ stopped at Eboli,” coined by writer Carlo Levi in his 20th-century book about the poor conditions in southern Italy south of the town. Eboli enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, and is positioned near the Tyrrhenian Sea coastline, the ancient Greek ruins of Paestum, and Cilento National Park.
