Isca sullo Ionio is a charming town in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria, southern Italy, with Greek origins and an ancient name believed to be Sanagasi.

The original settlement was located near the sea where Isca Marina stands today, but around the 9th century AD, residents moved to higher ground between two mountains to better protect themselves from sea invaders, giving the town its elevated position with panoramic sea views.

In the late 1940s, after an earthquake, the coastal area known as Isca Marina was developed as a new community, essentially returning descendants of the original townspeople to their ancestral location near the beach. Today, Isca Marina is a popular summer vacation destination for Italian and foreign travelers, featuring a beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, turquoise sea, lidos, and lush parks.
