Verified Kasteel Beukenhof

Anzegem, Belgium, Belgium

Kasteel Beukenhof is a prominent neo-Renaissance castle in Vichte, a small village that belongs to the town of Anzegem in West Flanders, Belgium.

It was built in 1876 for the liberal mayor Karel Vlieghe, with the surrounding coach house and stables completed in 1883, and the whole estate has recently been celebrated for its 150th anniversary in 2026. The red brick building is decorated with limestone details, has slate roofs and marbled fireplaces spread over three floors, and is set within a park with mature trees partially enclosed by hedges, together with a gatehouse and a former coach house now used by local youth groups.

Today the castle functions as Restaurant Beukenhof and an events venue, offering lunch and banquets, and the grounds are a popular starting or finishing point for walkers and cyclists using the Land van Streuvels walking network and the regional cycling network. Earlier names for the site include variations of “Beukenhof,” reflecting its long-standing local identity, while the former stables and storage buildings now house activities of KSA ter Vichten, making the domain both a historic monument and a lively community space.
