Kasteel Bouwelhof is a historic castle in the village of Bouwel, a small part of the municipality of Grobbendonk in Antwerp province, Belgium, set in a large, protected park at the end of a triple row of beeches.

Bouwel became an independent lordship in 1487, and its first lord, Huybrecht Brant, built the original castle, known as the “Praetorium van Bouwel,” which later evolved in the 16th century into a fortified manor surrounded by water. The present neoclassical building was constructed around 1820, replacing an older structure that had been demolished, and was designed by della Faille de Leverghem, keeping the fundamental layout of the earlier castle whose foundations may still lie under the grass in front of the new building.

The castle sit s in an enclosed moated domain reached via a threefold beech avenue laid out in 1791, and the park was originally an English landscape garden from 1818, still containing unusual planted trees such as sassafras, sequoia, fern-leaved beech, ginkgo, and tulip tree, alongside an 18th- or 19th-century ice cellar and a small pavilion.

Between 1836 and 1866 a range of service buildings was added, including stables, a coach house, a gardener’s house and a forester’s lodge, and while the castle and its outbuildings are now private, the entire estate is protected as a monument and landscape, making it a well-preserved example of a low-country aristocratic country domain layered with medieval, fortified, and 19th-century romantic elements.
