Kasteel Doggenhout
Belgium, Belgium
Kasteel Doggenhout, also known as Hof van Kruyckenberg or Hof van Liere, is a medieval water castle in Ranst, a municipality in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, situated south of the village centre on the Doggenhoutstraat.
The castle dates from the 14th and 17th centuries and has a square plan, originally built as a moated fortress with a wide surrounding water and access once controlled by a neo-Gothic gatehouse of about 1880 along the Ranstsesteenweg. It is still a private property today, and the whole estate is enclosed in a fenced domain with grass park, so it is not open to the public, but its historic outlines and setting can be admired from public roads and nearby walking paths in Ranst.
