Kasteel Hovorst, located in Zandhoven, Belgium, has origins dating back to the 12th century as a feudal stronghold initially built by the Van der Horst family.

Over the 15th and 16th centuries, extensive renovations were undertaken by the de Merode family which added Gothic and Renaissance architectural details, including a moat, drawbridge, and fortified walls. The castle transitioned to a residential estate in the 17th century with lavish interiors and landscaped gardens, including the construction of a Gothic chapel.

After falling into disrepair in the 19th and early 20th centuries, restoration efforts in the late 20th century successfully revived its historical grandeur.
