Maglić is Serbia's prominent 13th-century medieval fortress located about 20 km south of Kraljevo, perched atop a steep hill where the Ibar River curves dramatically around its base, rising roughly 100 meters above the valley floor. Built likely during King Stefan Uroš I's reign to guard the vital trade route linking the Great Morava Valley with Kosovo polje, it features robust stone walls, towers, a central donjon, and remnants of a chapel, embodying Raška school's architecture with its strategic position amid misty terrain that inspired its name meaning "the foggy one." Abandoned after the Ottoman conquest in the 15th century, it endured as a cultural monument, declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance, drawing visitors for its panoramic views and historical ties to Serbia's Nemanjić dynasty.
