Maison Autrique in Schaerbeek, Belgium, is a historic town house built in 1893 as the first Art Nouveau residence designed by the celebrated Belgian architect Victor Horta.

It was commissioned for Horta’s friend, the engineer Eugène Autrique, who wanted a simple but elegant home without ostentatious luxury, resulting in a sober yet finely detailed façade with stone ornaments around the door and windows and a more flamboyant upper‑floor loggia with decorative sgraffito work.

Located at 266 chaussée de Haecht, the house remained in relatively good condition through the 20th century, was acquired by the municipality of Schaerbeek in the 1990s, and underwent an extensive restoration led by architect Francis Metzger that was completed in 2004.

Today it is open to the public as a museum and cultural venue, where visitors can explore the original interior layout from cellar to attic, see exhibition spaces, view scenography created by François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters, and attend concerts, temporary exhibitions, and children’s workshops.
