Museo del Castello di Las Plassas
Las Plassas, Province of Medio Campidano, Italy, Italy
Museo del Castello di Las Plassas, also known as the MudA (Multimedia Museum of the Kingdom of Arborea), is located in the village of Las Plassas in Sardinia and is dedicated to the history of the nearby medieval Castle of Marmilla.
The museum uses multimedia exhibits, interactive displays, films, and archaeological artifacts to bring to life the history of the Kingdom of Arborea and daily life in a medieval Sardinian castle. Its collections include ceramics, inscriptions, tools, weapons, and other objects uncovered during excavations at the Castle of Las Plassas, one of the most important frontier fortresses of the Arborean kingdom.
These discoveries help visitors understand the castle’s military, political, and social significance during the Middle Ages. The museum experience is closely linked to the castle ruins themselves, which stand on a distinctive conical hill overlooking the surrounding countryside. Together, the museum and castle provide an engaging introduction to Sardinia’s medieval history and the legacy of the Kingdom of Arborea.
