Nakhal Fort, located in Nakhal in Oman’s Al Batinah South Governorate, is one of the country’s most impressive and historic forts.

Built on a large rocky outcrop and believed to have origins dating back to pre-Islamic times, it was expanded and restored over the centuries, particularly during the 17th century and again in 1834. The fort is famous for its unique design, which incorporates the natural rock into its structure, as well as its massive towers, defensive walls, and traditional Omani rooms.

Inside, visitors can explore historic furnishings, weapons, and exhibits that illustrate life in the fort during earlier periods of Omani history. Surrounded by palm groves and backed by the Al Hajar Mountains, Nakhal Fort offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
