Nenadović Tower
Valjevo, Serbia, Serbia
Nenadović Tower is a historic stone structure in Valjevo, Serbia, built in spring 1813 by Duke Jakov Nenadović and his son Jevrem during the First Serbian Uprising to serve as an armory for military supplies and surveillance over the town. This four-story, 17.5-meter-high tower with nearly square 9.8-meter sides and 1-meter-thick walls, constructed from stone of the demolished Vitković Tower, includes a vaulted ground floor, a first-floor resting area with fireplace, and a top floor for defense featuring large windows and loopholes. Captured by Ottoman forces later that year and used as a prison until its burning during Valjevo's liberation, it was rebuilt in 1836 by Prince Miloš Obrenović and now stands as a protected cultural monument housing a museum on Valjevo's military history.
