Pescara is a lively city on the Adriatic coast in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, sitting at the mouth of the Pescara River just east‑northeast of Rome.

It is the capital of the province of Pescara and blends beach‑resort life with a modern, somewhat sprawling urban center that has long curving promenades, wide sandy beaches, and a recently redeveloped waterfront area popular with both locals and tourists.

The city is known for its cuisine, especially fresh seafood dishes such as brodetto di pesce alla pescarese and traditional Abruzzese specialties like arrosticini, and it offers a relaxed mix of seaside relaxation, shopping, and cultural sights. Pescara also has historical depth, growing from the ancient Roman town of Aternum and later becoming an important Adriatic port and fishing hub, with its modern layout shaped by the merger of the former towns on either side of the river.
