Prizren is a historic city in southern Kosovo, not Serbia, nestled along the Prizren River amid the Sharr Mountains' foothills with a continental climate blending Mediterranean influences. Once the capital of the Serbian Empire under Stefan Dušan in the 14th century, it thrived as a key trade hub on Ottoman routes, later becoming a cultural center for Albanians during the Ottoman era and a UNESCO-recognized site for its churches like Bogorodica Ljeviška. Today, it's Kosovo's second-largest city with around 178,000 residents in its municipality, predominantly Albanian, famed for its vibrant old town of mosques, minarets, the iconic Kalaja Fortress offering panoramic views, and a lively bazaar blending Ottoman, Serbian, and Albanian heritage.
