Prozor Fortress is a medieval fortress that stands on a hill above the town of Vrlika in inland Dalmatia, Croatia.
Its origins trace back to an ancient stronghold used by the Dalmatae, while the larger fortress was developed in the early 15th century under the rule of Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić. Because of its commanding position, the fortress played an important defensive role for centuries, overseeing routes through the region and later serving various rulers, including the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Venice.
Today, Prozor Fortress survives as a partially restored ruin and a notable historical landmark. Visitors are rewarded with impressive views of Peruća Lake and the surrounding mountains, including Dinara, Kamešnica, and Svilaja, making it a popular destination for both history enthusiasts and hikers.
