The Reggia di Monza, also known as the Royal Villa of Monza, is a magnificent neoclassical palace built between 1777 and 1780 for Archduke Ferdinand of Austria on the orders of Empress Maria Theresa.

Designed by architect Giuseppe Piermarini, it served as a royal residence for the Habsburgs, the Napoleonic administration, and later the House of Savoy. Surrounded by the vast Monza Park, one of the largest enclosed parks in Europe, the palace is renowned for its elegant architecture, grand halls, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

Over the centuries, it hosted emperors, kings, and important political figures, becoming a symbol of royal power and prestige in northern Italy. Today, the Reggia di Monza is one of Lombardy’s most important cultural landmarks. Restored and open to visitors, it hosts exhibitions, events, and guided tours, offering a fascinating glimpse into Italy’s royal and architectural heritage.
