Rocca Albornoziana is a striking medieval fortress located in the center of Forlimpopoli, Emilia-Romagna.

Built between 1360 and 1365 on the orders of Cardinal Egidio Albornoz, it was constructed after the papal reconquest of the region and incorporated parts of earlier fortifications and buildings. The fortress is known for its imposing square layout, four corner towers, and spacious inner courtyard.

Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of various rulers, including the Ordelaffi family, and gradually evolved from a military stronghold into a noble residence as its defensive role declined. Today, Rocca Albornoziana is one of Forlimpopoli’s most important landmarks. It houses the town hall and the Civic Archaeological Museum, while its well-preserved architecture offers visitors a glimpse into the city’s medieval and Renaissance history.
