Rocca dei Rossi is a historic castle in the heart of San Secondo Parmense, built in the early 15th century by the powerful Rossi family as a fortified residence and defensive stronghold.

Surrounded by a moat fed by the nearby Taro River, it later evolved from a military fortress into an elegant Renaissance manor, reflecting the wealth and influence of one of the region’s most important noble dynasties. The castle is especially renowned for its beautifully decorated interiors, which feature remarkable 16th-century frescoes inspired by mythology, literature, and the achievements of the Rossi family.

Although parts of the original structure were lost over time, Rocca dei Rossi remains one of the most significant historic landmarks in the Parma area and is now open to visitors through guided tours, cultural events, and historical reenactments.
