Rocca di Belvedere
Italy, Italy
Rocca di Belvedere, also known as the Castle of Rusino, is the ruined remains of a medieval fortress located near the villages of Rusino and Moragnano in the municipality of Tizzano Val Parma, Emilia-Romagna.
Most historians believe it was built in the early 15th century by the nobleman Ottobuono de' Terzi to control and defend the Enza Valley, an important strategic area of the Parma Apennines. Throughout its history, the fortress was associated with powerful regional families and played a role in the political and military struggles of northern Italy. Over time, the castle lost its defensive importance and gradually fell into ruin.
Today, only fragments of the structure, including the remains of a tower, survive. Although the site is not fully accessible, it remains a place of historical interest, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and a glimpse into the medieval heritage of the Parma region.
