Rottenegg Castle in Austria is a 13th-century ruined castle located near the village of Rottenegg in the municipality of Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis.
It was originally built around 1289 to protect a trade route and was owned by the Piber family until 1340 before passing to the Landenberg and Wallsee families. In the 16th to 17th centuries, the castle was transformed from a four-story defensive tower into a residence featuring an onion dome. The castle fell into decay after 1712, and much of it has disappeared.
The ruins, which include remaining walls and window frames with stucco decorations and traces of original paint, sit at an elevation of 473 meters and are privately owned, with visits requiring permission from local authorities.
