Sorghvliedt Castle
Antwerpen, Belgium
Sorghvliedt Castle in the Hoboken district of Antwerp, Belgium, has its origins as a 16th-century farm called Wickeleynde. It was redesigned between 1745 and 1750 into a Rococo-style castle by architect Jan Pieter van Baurscheit the Younger.
The castle features a U-shaped, two-story structure with slate hipped roofs, decorative brick facades, and an ornate main entrance with a du Bois family crest. The grounds include a serene park with a pond, walking paths, and remnants of a historical rectangular moat. Purchased by the municipality of Hoboken in 1937, it served as the town hall from 1940 and later became the district hall after Antwerp's expansion in 1983.
Today, it stands as a peaceful historic site blending elegant architecture and natural beauty, offering visitors a tranquil environment for strolls and events.
