Topana is a historic fortress that rises above the town of Imotski in southern Croatia, dramatically positioned on cliffs between the famous Blue Lake (Modro jezero) and the town below.

The fortress was expanded and reinforced over time, particularly during more than two centuries of Ottoman rule, when it functioned as an administrative and military center.
Its name, Topana, is derived from a Turkish word referring to a place where cannons and weapons were stored. Today, Topana Fortress is one of Imotski’s most recognizable landmarks. Visitors come to explore its historic walls, see the nearby Church of Our Lady of Angels, and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the town, the surrounding countryside, and the striking Blue Lake.
