Torre del Moro is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Orvieto, a medieval hill town in Italy’s Umbria region.

Built in the 13th century, the tower stands at the heart of the historic center and has long served as a symbol of the city’s civic life and importance. Rising about 47 to 50 meters high, the tower was originally used as a watchtower and later became known for its large clock and bells.

Its current name is believed to come from Raffaele Gualterio, nicknamed “Il Moro,” who was associated with the area during the Renaissance period. Today, visitors can climb the tower and enjoy spectacular 360-degree views over Orvieto, the surrounding Umbrian countryside, and the distant hills. Its combination of history, architecture, and panoramic scenery makes it one of the city’s most popular attractions.
