The Tower of Velate is a medieval watchtower located in the village of Velate, near Varese in Lombardy.

Built in the 11th century, it formed part of a defensive network that monitored important routes between the Po Valley, Lake Maggiore, and the Alpine region. Originally a massive stone structure rising over 30 meters high, the tower was severely damaged during the 12th-century conflicts between Milan and Como.

Today, only two walls of the original fortress remain standing, but the ruins still dominate the surrounding landscape and serve as a striking reminder of the area's medieval past. Overlooking the countryside and the routes toward Lake Maggiore, the Tower of Velate is one of the most iconic historic landmarks in the Varese area. Now protected by the Italian National Trust (FAI), it is appreciated for its historical significance, archaeological importance, and panoramic setting.
