Urvich Fortress is a medieval stronghold in Bulgaria's Lozen Mountain near Kokalyane village, about 20 km from Sofia, strategically positioned above the Iskar River's meanders to guard passes toward ancient Serdica (modern Sofia).

Likely constructed in the 13th century during the Second Bulgarian Empire, it features trapezoidal walls enclosing 350 by 150 meters, corner towers up to 8 meters high, and the preserved Church of St. Iliya, with recent excavations revealing a 2nd-3rd century Roman triangular stone tower marking early strategic importance.

Linked to Tsar Ivan Shishman's final resistance against Ottoman forces around 1393-1395, local legend tells of a shepherdess betraying its secret gate under duress, leading to its fall after a prolonged siege. Now an accessible hiking site with nearby Kokalyane Monastery, it offers panoramic views and ongoing archaeological insights into Bulgaria's late medieval defenses.
