Wiltz Castle
Wiltz, Northern Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Wiltz Castle in northern Luxembourg is a Renaissance-style castle whose construction began in 1631 under Count John VI of Wiltz and was completed around 1720 after delays caused by war and famine.
It stands on a rocky promontory overlooking the town and incorporates older structures, including the Witch’s Tower, which dates back to 1573 and is the oldest part of the castle. The castle has a grand chapel finished in 1722 and a monumental staircase leading to the gardens completed in 1727.
Today, Wiltz Castle houses the National Brewing Art Museum and the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge, and it serves as a cultural venue hosting concerts and theatrical performances in its amphitheater during the annual Wiltz Festival.
