Aghavnatun is a village in the Armavir Province of Armenia, located about 10 km north of the city of Echmiadzin, and it is known both for its rural community life and for a small but rich collection of historical monuments.

The village preserves Iron Age ruins of an ancient fortress, a 13th-century tomb, a chapel, and four churches, the oldest of which is the Surp Gevork (Saint George) Church dating to the 10th century, showing that the settlement has been an important religious and cultural place for many centuries. On a hilltop near the village there is also a distinctive circular stone tower of unknown purpose, which adds to the local archaeological interest and invites speculation about its use in earlier times.

Over the last years, Aghavnatun has also developed modern community facilities, including a newly consecrated St. Anna Church and a playground opened alongside it, which have become centers for local celebrations and daily life for the village residents. Today, Aghavnatun is a quiet but historically layered Armenian village that combines ancient fortifications and medieval churches with contemporary community development, offering visitors a glimpse of both Armenia’s deep past and its present rural culture.
