Aruch, located in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia, is a historic village situated on the southern part of Mount Aragats.

The settlement dates back to the 6th century when it served as the winter camp of the royal army and was later established as a permanent base by Grigor Mamikonian (661-682). Aruch is notable for the 7th-century Armenian monastic complex called Արուճավանք, which includes the cathedral founded by Grigor Mamikonian and is considered the largest early medieval domed church in Armenia.

The village also retains the remains of the Mamikonian palace, reflecting its significance as an administrative and military center. Strategically located on the historic Silk Road between the capitals Dvin and Ani, Aruch played a key role in trade and military activity in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.

Its heritage includes frescoes and architectural features that are among the finest examples of Armenia's early medieval period, making it an important cultural and archaeological site
