Belogradchik Fortress in Bulgaria is an ancient and well-preserved stronghold situated on the northern slopes of the Balkan Mountains near the town of Belogradchik.

Originating in Roman times between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD, it was initially built to control a key road and later expanded by Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Sratsimir in the 14th century. The fortress features thick walls up to 12 meters high, three fortified yards, and was reinforced during the Ottoman period with European architectural influences.

It played significant roles in regional defense, including suppressing uprisings such as the 1850 Belogradchik Uprising. The fortress was last used militarily in the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885. Its location amid the spectacular Belogradchik Rocks adds to its dramatic and strategic character, offering breathtaking views and historical insight for visitors.

The site includes embrasures for cannons and guns, bastions, and tunnels, reflecting its long military history and importance as a cultural monument.
