Burg Lockenhaus is a medieval fortress in eastern Austria, built around 1200 on a hill overlooking the Güns Valley near the Hungarian border.

Originally called Leuca, it is Burgenland’s oldest castle and combines Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. The castle’s history includes various noble owners such as the Güssinger, Kanizsay, Nádasdy, and Esterházy families. It was a significant stronghold defending the area against Mongol invasions and later served different roles including a military academy in the 18th century.

Notably, it is linked to Elizabeth Báthory, the infamous "Blood Countess," who was married to a Nádasdy family member and reputedly committed atrocities there. The castle features well-preserved rooms like a knights' hall, a torture chamber with an iron maiden, and artistic frescoes.

After falling into ruin, Burg Lockenhaus was bought and restored in the late 20th century by the Paul Anton Keller Foundation and is now a cultural site hosting events, tours, and lodging, blending historical legacy with modern use.
