Burg Rappottenstein is a medieval castle located in Rappottenstein, Lower Austria, perched on a granite hilltop 683 meters above sea level.

Built around 1150 by Rapoto of Kuenring, it was strategically placed to protect the extensive Kuenringer estates and safeguard a key trade route connecting the Danube with Bohemia. The castle is renowned for having withstood multiple sieges by peasants, Catholic troops, and Swedish forces, never having been conquered. Its architecture blends Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles, featuring massive windowless walls, a multi-courtyard defensive complex with eight gates, and well-preserved interiors including frescoed rooms and a two-level chapel from 1378.
