Burgruine Niederkraig is a medieval castle ruin located near Frauenstein in the Carinthia region of Austria, part of the Kraiger Schlösser castle complex along with Oberkraig.

The castles were built on the southern slope of Kraiger Mountain above the Grassen settlement and served as important defensive structures. Niederkraig is the lower castle of the two and is better preserved than Oberkraig. The site includes remnants of walls, towers, and a distinctive round-arched aqueduct from the 15th or 16th century that connected the two castles, reflecting an advanced medieval water management system.

The Kraiger Schlösser castles were first mentioned in 1091, with their owners serving as ministerials to the Duke of Carinthia. These castles formed part of a defensive ring that protected the ducal city of Sankt Veit and were positioned to provide mutual support as a medieval alarm system through visible signals.

Today, Niederkraig can be reached by hiking and offers visitors a glimpse into the medieval strategic architecture in the region.
