Old Town Nessebar, located on a rocky peninsula along Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast in Burgas Province, is one of the oldest towns in Europe with a history spanning over 3,200 years.

Founded by the Thracians and known as Mesambria in antiquity, it later became an important Roman, Byzantine, and medieval Bulgarian port fortified by walls, remnants of which still stand today. The town showcases a remarkable blend of architectural styles, with numerous well-preserved churches from the 5th to the 19th centuries, including the Church of Christ Pantocrator and St. Stefan’s Church, featuring elaborate frescoes and ceramic decoration.

Its narrow cobblestone streets are lined with traditional wooden houses that reflect Black Sea architectural styles. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nessebar’s layered history and coastal charm attract visitors keen on archaeology, culture, and picturesque seaside beauty.
