The Quito Botanical Gardens, located in the heart of Quito, Ecuador, is a compact but rich botanical space of about 18,600 square meters inside Parque La Carolina, near the city’s commercial district and the Natural Sciences Museum.

It functions as a park, botanical garden, and orchid conservation center, showcasing Ecuador’s exceptional plant diversity across several ecosystems such as cloud forest, páramo, and arid zones, with many native species and scientific‑themed gardens.

A major highlight is its pair of orchid houses, which together form one of the largest and most important orchid collections in the country, with nearly 2,000 species reflecting Ecuador’s status as a global orchid hotspot.

The garden also serves as an environmental‑education site, offering guided visits and accessible paths, and is open most days with a small entrance fee, reachable easily by bus or the Quito metro at the Carolina station.
