Ruine Klöch
Klöch, Austria
Ruine Klöch is the remains of a 14th-century hilltop castle overlooking the vineyards of southern Styria, first documented in 1365 when Duke Rudolph granted it to Frederick Wolfsauer.
Today the site preserves massive 2.5-metre-thick shield walls and a tall residential tower with an internal spiral staircase, evoking its medieval origins. Abandoned in the 18th century and later purchased by a private family, the ruin now serves as a local landmark and event venue, offering sweeping views across the Klöch wine region and nearby Slovenian hills.
