Sandbjerg Manor, located near Sønderborg in southern Denmark, dates back to the early 16th century and was initially owned by Duke Hans the Younger.
The manor house seen today was built in 1788 in a Rococo style under the direction of Conrad Georg Reventlow and is situated on a scenic site overlooking Als Sound. The estate remained in the Reventlow family until 1929, after which it was sold to Knud Dahl and Ellen Dahl, who transformed the manor into a cultural hub. Ellen Dahl donated it to Aarhus University in 1954, and since then, it has been used for teaching, research, and conferences.
The manor is known for its elegant architecture, its historic interiors including a library and conservatory, and beautiful surrounding gardens. It continues to serve as a center for education and cultural events, reflecting a rich history intertwined with Danish nobility and academia.
