Tirsbæk Gods
Denmark, Denmark
Tirsbæk Gods is a Renaissance manor estate located 6 km east of Vejle on the north shore of Vejle Fjord in Denmark, built around 1540-1550 by nobleman Iver Lunge on a medieval moated island surrounded by water on all sides.
The three-winged complex features a west wing with a tower added in 1577, rich decorations including patriarchal crosses hinting at pre-Reformation origins, and later Baroque remodelings in the 1700s plus a terraced Renaissance garden from 1745 with Denmark's oldest vineyard.
Owned today by Hans Henrik Algreen-Ussing and spanning 393 hectares of farmland, forestry, and hunting grounds, it hosts events, leadership training, off-road tours, and peaceful walks, though the main buildings remain private with views from surrounding trails.
