Schloss Murau is a Renaissance castle on the hill above the town of Murau in Styria, Austria. It grew out of an older medieval fortress first associated with Ulrich von Liechtenstein in the 13th century, and its present form was created in the 17th century by the Schwarzenberg family, who still own it today. The castle is an important local landmark and now contains a museum, archival collections, and forestry administration offices. Visitors can usually see it only on guided tours, and highlights include the chapel, historic rooms, and the castle’s art and tapestry collections.
