Fredensborg Palace is a royal palace located in the town of Fredensborg on the island of Zealand, Denmark.
Built between 1720 and 1726 for King Frederick IV, the Baroque-style palace was named “Peace’s Castle” to commemorate the peace treaty that ended Denmark’s involvement in the Great Northern War. The palace is one of the most frequently used residences of the Danish royal family and serves as their traditional spring and autumn home.
It is also the setting for state visits, royal celebrations, and important official events. Surrounded by one of Denmark’s largest and most beautiful Baroque gardens, Fredensborg Palace is renowned for its elegant architecture, extensive parkland, and historical importance. The palace has played a central role in Danish royal life for more than 300 years and remains one of the country’s most significant royal landmarks.
