Glorup Manor
Denmark, Denmark
Glorup Manor is a historic manor estate on the island of Funen, between Nyborg and Svendborg in Denmark.
First mentioned in 1390, it was extensively redesigned in the 18th century by French architect Nicolas-Henri Jardin and is widely regarded as one of the finest Baroque manor complexes in Denmark. The manor is known for its elegant white buildings, mansard roofs, and beautifully landscaped gardens, which include one of Denmark’s earliest Romantic and Anglo-Chinese style parks.
Its architecture and gardens were recognized as part of the Danish Culture Canon for their cultural and historical significance. Glorup Manor also has a strong connection to Hans Christian Andersen, who stayed there frequently during the 19th century and found inspiration in its peaceful surroundings. Today, the estate remains privately owned and is celebrated as one of Denmark’s most impressive historic manor houses and landscape gardens.
