Verified Gyldensteen

Gyldensteen, Denmark, Denmark

Gyldensteen is a historic manor estate near Bogense on the island of Funen, Denmark.

The estate dates back to the 15th century and was originally known as Enggård. It received its current name in 1720 after being acquired by the French-born nobleman Jean Henri Huguetan, who was granted the title Gyldensteen. The present manor house was built in the Renaissance style between 1636 and 1640 by Gregers Krabbe.

Surrounded by moats and later expanded with side wings, it is considered one of the finest manor houses in northern Funen and is known for its distinctive red-brick architecture and elegant parkland setting. Today, Gyldensteen remains a privately owned estate and an important part of Denmark’s cultural heritage.
