Verified Limpopo National Park

Gaza Province, Mozambique

Limpopo National Park, located in Gaza Province in southern Mozambique, is one of the country’s largest protected areas and forms part of the vast Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which links with Kruger National Park in South Africa and Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe.

Established in 2001–2002, the park was created to promote cross-border wildlife conservation and restore natural migration routes. The park features a diverse landscape of savannas, woodlands, floodplains, rivers, and mopane forests that support a rich variety of wildlife. Visitors may encounter elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, African wild dogs, and many bird species, with animal populations continuing to recover through conservation efforts and natural movements from neighboring parks.

Known for its vast wilderness and relatively untouched environment, Limpopo National Park offers safaris, guided walks, birdwatching, boating, and cultural experiences with local communities. Its combination of scenic landscapes, growing wildlife populations, and international conservation importance makes it one of Mozambique’s premier nature destinations.
