Selsø Castle is a historic manor house near Skibby on the Hornsherred peninsula in Denmark.

The estate dates back to the 13th century, while the current main building was constructed in 1576 as a Renaissance residence and later remodeled in the Baroque style during the 1730s. What makes Selsø Castle unique is that it stood largely abandoned after 1829, avoiding the modernizations that changed many other Danish manor houses.

As a result, many original interiors, decorations, wallpapers, and historic features have been preserved, offering a rare glimpse into aristocratic life from past centuries. Today, the castle operates as a museum and cultural attraction, hosting guided tours, concerts, and events. Surrounded by scenic landscapes near Roskilde Fjord, it is regarded as one of Denmark’s best-preserved historic manor houses and an important part of the country’s cultural heritage.
