Sprogø is a small Danish island located in the middle of the Great Belt, the strait between the islands of Zealand and Funen.

Today, it is best known as a key part of the Great Belt Fixed Link, the bridge and tunnel system that connects eastern and western Denmark. Despite its small size, Sprogø has a rich history. Archaeological finds show that people lived there thousands of years ago, and the island later housed a medieval fortress, a lighthouse built in 1868, and a controversial institution for women that operated from 1923 to 1961.

Today, Sprogø is a protected nature reserve with important bird habitats and rare wildlife. The island has no permanent population and is generally closed to the public, but visitors can explore it through guided tours that showcase its unique combination of history, nature, and engineering landmarks.
